Slim’s Fishing Derby planned for February 15-16

The sixth annual Slim’s Fishing Derby will be held on all legal waters of Hancock County on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 15 and 16.

Fish categories will include brown trout, splake, salmon, togue and bass and the weight station, located at the Toddy Pond public landing in Orland, will be open from 2 to 6 p.m. on both days.

Online registration is open from now through Feb. 14 at www.slimsfishingderby.com and the registration fee is $15.

Children under age 12 do not need to register to weigh fish and are eligible for fish category prizes.

Over $1,000 in cash prizes and $1,000 in door prizes will be provided. Only registered adults will be eligible for the door prize and grand prize drawings. Participants may register multiple times to improve their chances in the drawings.

Proceeds from the event go to the Jimmy Douglass Memorial Scholarship Fund. More than $3,400 was raised last year.
