Seven Springers’ gymnasts qualify for state tournament



BIDDEFORD — Seven gymnasts from Springers’ Gymnastics Center in Ellsworth turned in strong performances during three days of competition at the Frostbite Invitational and first sectional meet of the year in Biddeford last week.

Competing against more than 350 gymnasts from Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont, the gymnasts from Springers’ all attained scores of at least 30 points to qualify for the upcoming Maine USA Gymnastics State Championships later in the spring.

Following are the meet results:

Level 4

Riley Crowley was fourth on floor, fifth on beam and bars and sixth on vault for fifth all-around.

Level 5

Maddie Nyda was second on vault and floor, third on bars and fourth on beam for second all-around.

Gilly Rice was second on beam, third on bars and fourth on floor for fourth all-around.

Level 6

Paige Sawyer was fourth on vault and bars, seventh on beam and ninth on floor for sixth all-around.

Sarah Danby was sixth on bars, ninth on vault and 10th on beam and floor for 10th all-around.

Katherine McKee was fourth on vault, sixth on floor and ninth on beam for 11th all-around.

Level 8

Ellie Mason was fourth on vault and floor, sixth on beam and eighth on bars for seventh all-around.

Springers’ center will host teams from Bangor and Central Lincoln County in a YMCA meet on Sunday, Feb. 10.
