ELLSWORTH — Ellsworth resident Chris Sarro started off his tenure as a Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship fighter in winning fashion Saturday with a first-round knockout in his debut bout.
Sarro scored his knockout of Follansbee, W.Va., fighter John McAllister just 1 minute, 32 seconds into Saturday’s BKFC 9 fight at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum in Biloxi, Miss. The victory came as Sarro delivered a straight right to the head to drop his opponent to the floor.
The bout was the first of a three-fight contract for Sarro, who signed with BKFC on Sept. 13. Sarro penned that contract six days after he delivered a 67-second knockout against Ras Hylton of South Portland at the University of Maine’s Collins Center for the Arts.
BKFC held its first card last June after Wyoming became the first state in 129 years to legalize bare-knuckle fighting. BKFC competitors must be “established professionals in boxing, MMA, kickboxing or Muay Thai” and are strictly prohibited from taping their hands within 1 inch of their knuckles.
The time, date and location for Sarro’s next BKFC fight have yet to be announced.
