ELLSWORTH — The end-of-the-season golf croquet doubles tournament was held recently on the croquet lawn at Woodlawn Museum in Ellsworth, with block play on Sept. 30 and semifinal and final contests on Tuesday, Oct. 6. The championship game was not decided until the final wicket. Taking top honors were Jeanne Fernald of Somesville and Barbara Entzminger of Bar Harbor, who defeated Janet Pearson and Ginnie Hawrylicz, both of Surry. Placing third were Pearl Mattson of Surry and Sharon Kosinski of Cooperstown, N.Y., and fourth were Enid Neleski of Lamoine and Barbara Kinisman of Ellsworth and Dataw Island, S.C. Awards were presented at a pot luck dinner after completion of the tournament.
