MDI Girls Tie Hampden

HAMPDEN — On Tuesday at Hampden Academy, MDI’s Hutchins and Bucksport’s Kone again were top performers.

In the girls’ meet, Hutchins won the 400-meter dash in 1:04.19, the long jump with a distance of 15 feet, .75 inch and the javelin with a throw of 92 feet, 5 inches.

Other MDI winners were Destiny Kanu in the 100-meter dash in 13.87 seconds, Heather Spurling in the 1,600-meter run in 5:27.53, Kailyn Russell in the 800-meter run in 2:32.25, Kristin Bartlett in the 200-meter dash in 29.36 seconds, Chelsey Curran with pole vault of 8 feet, and the foursome of Bartlett, Kanu, Russell and Hutchins in the four-by-100-meter relay in 53.51 seconds.

The Trojan girls tied for first with Hampden Academy, each with 156 points, followed by Bucksport 54, Searsport 14 and GSA 8.

Bucksport’s Liz Beeson won the 100-meter hurdles in 18.07 seconds and the 300-meter hurdles in 53.94 seconds.

In the boys’ meet, Kone again won the 100-meter dash in 11.47 seconds, the 200-meter dash in 23.46 seconds and the long jump with a distance of 21 feet, 5.75 inches.

Also for Bucksport, Vincent Tymoczko won the 400-meter dash in 51 seconds and teamed with Jon Goodin, Nate Warren and Kone to win the four-by100-meter relay in 45.57 seconds.

Winners for MDI were Carl Ferm in the javelin with a throw of 1435 feet, 5 inches; Camden Fernald in the discus with a throw of 118 feet, 1 inch; Dan Hales in the shot put with a throw of 44 feet, 3.25 inches; and Tucker Smith in the pole vault at 12 feet.

Nikos Christ of GSA won the 3,200-meter run in 10:46.21.
