Kephart 4th, Cerilli 5th in Northeast Harbor Road Race



MOUNT DESERT — Two Hancock County residents earned top-five finishes Saturday at the annual Northeast Harbor Road Race.

Andrew Kephart of Ellsworth finished fourth overall in the 5-mile race with a time of 27 minutes, 59 seconds. His time placed him one second shy of third-place finisher Caleb Gartner of Falmouth, Mass.

Jason Cerilli of Sullivan crossed the finish line in 29:48 to finish fifth overall. In another close finish, he beat out J.P. Grace of Locust Valley, N.Y., by a mere four seconds.

Jarly Bobadilla of Tremont was the next Hancock County runner to reach the finish line, which he crossed in 31:20. Dylan Garceau of Bar Harbor rounded out the top 20 with a time of 32:52, and Mount Desert’s Paul Weaver (24th) and Bar Harbor’s Bryant Perkins (25th), Zac Gilhooley (30th) and Dale Zhang (34th) continued a strong day for MDI runners.

This year marked the 41st running of the Northeast Harbor Road Race, which benefits Northeast Harbor Ambulance Service. A total of 143 runners competed in the race.
