Hancock County runners win individual events at Ellsworth Invitational



ELLSWORTH — On a bright, sunny morning in Ellsworth, it was two Hancock County students who came out on top to start the cross-country season.

George Stevens Academy’s John Hassett and Mount Desert Island’s Tia Tardy claimed victory in the boys’ and girls’ three-mile varsity races at the Ellsworth Invitational on Saturday. Orono won both the boys’ and girls’ team events, which were determined from the combined times of each school’s runners.

Below is a list of both the top-10 individual finishers and top-five team scores for both the boys’ and girls’ events.
