Bucksport to host Class B state wrestling championships

BUCKSPORT — Bucksport High School has been selected to host the state’s 2017 Class B wrestling championships, the school announced in a statement Thursday.

The tournament will be held Feb. 18, and 112 wrestlers from around the state will qualify. Hancock County schools with wrestling programs in Class B are Ellsworth and Bucksport, though George Stevens Academy has wrestlers who compete as independents.

Bucksport is looking for local businesses in the town that would be willing to provide information for a flier to be sent to qualifying schools Feb. 4. If interested, email Ed Hatch at [email protected] or call 469-6650. Please leave your business name, hours of operation the weekend of the tournament, contact information and any discounts your business might be willing to offer.
