The latest political fiasco when 18 Republican states presented a petition to the Supreme Court to overthrow a certified election ended when the Supreme Court voted 9-0 to throw it out. Once again the rule of law wins, and it must infuriate Trump that the justices he added to the court did not do as he wished. What is a great concern is the fact that the Republican House voted to back the 18 states. A total of 106 House Republicans disavowed their sworn oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic. Also, the attorneys general for the 18 states did the same. In doing this, our duly elected officials threatened to overthrow the Constitution, President Trump included. For all intents and purposes, we are now a three-party political system, Democrats, Trump’s party and a small conservative Republican Party.
So, we are not out of the woods yet whether democracy will survive. Seventy-four million voters backed Trump and most believe the election was rigged. This makes them a powerful political force. We may not survive this. This thing called democracy may fail in the near future. I have no idea what would replace it. But I tell you, Trumpers, you will not be happy when you vote to suspend a democratic government. It will be a short experience when you find out most of your freedoms you take for granted will vanish with the wind. This is what happens in an autocratic dictatorship.
All the Trumpers I have met refuse to admit that Trump has lied at all when in fact he lies constantly. Russian citizens have a sadness in that they have no history. The government has lied to them constantly for so many years that their history has disappeared under a huge manure pile of lies and disinformation.
So, America, it’s all up to you. If you want to continue under a democratic government ruled by the rules of law and the Constitution, you’re gonna have to fight for it.
