I am so proud of Rep. Jared Golden (D-Maine) for his early work (and work until finally passed) on the bipartisan infrastructure bill that will bring federal funding to fix Maine’s roads and bridges, bring broadband to our rural areas and get lead out of our water pipes. President Biden also needs to be honored and applauded for succeeding to get this infrastructure plan passed that he campaigned on in 2020. This results from this law will help all areas of the country. Thanks to the work of Jared Golden, House and Senate Democrats and Republicans and the President, all the American people can be proud of this win.
Over the next few years, $1.3 billion will be invested in Maine’s highways, $100 million will be used to build high-speed broadband in our rural communities and $390 million will replace lead pipes here in Maine as well as funding to protect areas from climate change — bringing good jobs to many of our residents.
I hope that you will join me in thanking Congressman Golden for making Maine a safer, healthier and more connected place.
