A shameful display by Trump

Dear Editor:

I was thoroughly disgusted at the sight of Donald Trump pulling a Purple Heart Medal from his pocket and displaying it while saying “I always wanted one,” “I got mine the easy way” and “I regret I did not serve.”

This from a man who managed to obtain three student deferments and a final deferment for one bone spur in his foot instead of serving his country. The man has no values and no moral compass.

There is no “easy way” to earn the Purple Heart Medal, Donald. It is specifically a combat decoration awarded to those wounded by an instrument of war in the hands of the enemy, and posthumously to the next of kin of those killed in action or who die of wounds received in action.

Mr. Trump’s disrespectful actions and attitude toward this honorable medal should disqualify him from the office of commander in chief in the eyes of anyone with respect for our brave men and women who do serve.
