Last week’s candidates night, sponsored by Heart of Ellsworth, was a civil and informative event. Each candidate referred to the need to listen and the need for an updated comprehensive plan for the city. Only Casey Hanson mentioned the Green Ellsworth plan, and I am glad for that.
To quote from the Green Ellsworth.org website, the plan “provides a 10-year road map for sustainable development with strategies and recommendations in four primary areas: Water, Land, Food and Farming and Infrastructure.” It has been a volunteer effort, created by listening to citizens at several public forums.
This plan is an excellent resource to refer to as we deliberate the future of Ellsworth. I recommend that candidates and voters review the Green Plan for Ellsworth, available at www.greenellsworth.org.
