Time for a spelling lesson

Dear Editor:

I have before me copies of essentially the same report by reporter Dick Broom. The earliest is from your fine publication, in which the name of Swan’s Island is spelled correctly.

The second version from the Mount Desert Islander. The only difference I see is that someone has painstakingly removed the “apostrophe,” making the reference to ferry fares to some non-existent Swans Island — complete gibberish.

There is no Swans Island! Can someone explain why Dick Broom’s fine article on ferry fares was so butchered?

Is it pure pigheadedness or ignorance? What happened to the apostrophe when it crossed the Trenton bridge?
