For years, I have read articles, watched documentaries, shared discussions with friends, etc. (pro and con) regarding the death with dignity issue. I was taken aback by the fact that your featured editorial (“Death with dignity,” June 20) seemed to completely disregard what is, and always has been, the major reason for a person’s choice to end his or her life.
From what I’ve observed, the person making that decision has decided that he/she can no longer bear to suffer the daily physical pain and/or the emotional indignities required just to breath another breath, or breaths for maybe years to come.
How about this for a reason behind the choice:
He or she is just “sick and tired” of being “sick and tired.”
