Retiring principal offers thanks to the Ellsworth community

Dear Editor:

To the Ellsworth community,

As I finish up my 12th year as your Elementary principal and 33 years in education, I would like to say thank you. I felt blessed each and every day that I had the opportunity to serve in education as a teacher and as a principal.

I wish to express my gratitude to this community and to the children and parents for making my 12 years here a rewarding and memorable experience in so many ways. I have proudly watched over 1,200 children throughout my tenure. Although I knew their names, I want you to know that I cared deeply about their academic and growth as well as their safety and well being.

I have been extremely fortunate to have had worked closely with many excellent and caring staff members throughout the years. Your new principal, Tim McCluskey, is excited to continue the work of providing wonderful experiences for the children of Ellsworth. I know that you will support him the same way that you have supported me.

As a community, you have supported my work with our youngest learners in so many ways. For schools to be successful, partnerships need to be strong. Your support has allowed for us to bring the very best to your youngest community members.

I leave with a full heart and wonderful memories. I look forward to watching great things continue to happen at EEMS and within the Ellsworth School District!

I am so grateful.

Amy Peterson-Roper
