Lies become truth

Dear Editor:

There is an old saying, “If a lie is allowed to be told often enough, it will also become truth”.

For the rioters that trashed the Capitol on Jan. 6, Donald Trump’s lies became their truth. They believed the words of a petulant child. They believed they could change the election results by violence. Another old line is, “only an idiot believes a lie told by a fool”.

Now we are engaged in a civil war, Republicans vs. Democrats. Even with the former president in disgrace and playing golf in Florida, the Republican Party with too few exceptions still fears how and what Donald Trump will do to “get even” if they vote to impeach.

The former president didn’t kill those five people on Jan. 6. Those same people would be alive today if Donald Trump had kept his mouth shut.
