To the people of the Ellsworth area, I have 18 years of experience with exhibitions and historic house programs. The Woodlawn Museum is poised to launch a new era of professional exhibition and event productions in the context of a historic house. To insist that it use existing unsafe structures instead of replacing them with historically sensitive new construction is to doom the organization to failure. The only way the Woodlawn Museum could hope to attract loans from other historic museums to augment its collections is to have a safe, climate-controlled and modern facility with professional handlers. It would be a great boost to the area attractions and would build a solid foundation to preserve the Woodlawn estate for future public education and enjoyment.
