Born-again voter had his say

Dear Editor:

My neighbor Donald did remember voting for Eisenhower but wasn’t sure he participated in a presidential election since.

Until this year. At age 90, he completed an absentee ballot and voted Democrat. He was fed up with the incivility, lack of respect and incessant lying coming from the White House. And he was tired of muting TV news.

Oddly, his views of society would otherwise have wed him to the underlying messages of this President. Perhaps the folks of a generation that lived through most of the 20th century are “old school” and still honor manners and courtesy.

Don strongly felt the need to secure the future for others. Voting was his final civic duty. He died later that week knowing that his vote did make a difference.

Thank you, Donald, for being a considerate neighbor!
