Dear Editor:
Ode to Dictators
O to be a dictator
To be powerful and strong.
The press would all respect you,
they’d never say, “You’re wrong.”
Your orders all would be obeyed,
you’d build a wall so high
no aliens could climb it.
They wouldn’t even try.
The people would believe your words.
They’d trust your words were true.
Fact-checkers would assail you,
but nothing they could do.
Dissidents you’d punish hard,
their freedom they would lose.
Dismemberment and poison
are methods you could use.
O to be a dictator
A job to be desired.
To have no opposition
and no one to say “You’re fired.”
