A true watchdog

Dear Editor:

Thanks for publishing Rep. Larry Lockman’s opinion column on protecting Maine’s most vulnerable senior citizens. I agree with Lockman; there’s no excuse for allowing Maine’s nursing homes to become COVID-19 killing fields. Governor Mills and CDC Director Dr. Nirav Shah had plenty of advance warning that residents of nursing homes are a particularly vulnerable population, and it is shameful that our elderly are dying due to their negligence. We need more watchdogs like Larry.

Lockman has been a real leader during his four terms in the Maine Legislature, and he’s never been afraid to tackle other controversial issues. He doesn’t hide in the tall grass, waiting to see which way the political winds are blowing.

I’m excited to support Larry’s run for the state Senate in the July 14 primary election. Mainers can count on Lockman to care about their interests, and I know he will place us ahead of the Statehouse insiders.
