The skies cleared, the music played and the restaurants outdid themselves for a sellout crowd at this year’s Taste of Ellsworth. Held in the center of our downtown on Saturday, June 29, five hundred people ranging in age from 6 months to 90 years experienced this community-wide event.
A huge thank you goes to our key sponsors, Machias Savings Bank and Wallace Events. It is their dedication and support that has allowed us to grow this event over three years. Another big thank you to First National Bank, which has been our family games sponsor since year one. We also have many other businesses to thank for this year’s success. Taste of Ellsworth could not happen without our volunteers. We rounded up a team of about 60 individuals to help us plan and orchestrate the event. Our organization operates with only one part-time paid staff member, so to say we could not do it without them is an understatement.
When we created Taste of Ellsworth, the vision was to have a street party celebration for our local Ellsworth community, a party that would include youths to seniors. We wanted to showcase how great our community is and the many wonderful businesses we have. The last Saturday in June was selected, as it is just before the busy tourist season kicks into high gear.
We are so pleased that the community has embraced this quality of life event. Our board is already planning the fourth annual Taste of Ellsworth as well as several other community events for this fall. Thanks go to everyone who helped and attended!
