Honor, fair compensation needed

Dear Editor:

At signing, when enlisting, our servicemen and women are told to:

  1. Place mission first.
  2. Never give up.
  3. Do their part to preserve freedom and democracy.

Upon returning from service, they may experience the following: PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder). It is a mental health condition that is triggered by a terrifying event either experienced or witnessing it. Symptoms may include uncontrollable thoughts about the event. Flashbacks, nightmares, severe anxiety, depression, sometimes suicide. These experiences last all the rest of their lives. Our servicemen earn $1,733 per month. Officers earn $3,287.10. NOT ENOUGH!

Also, an investigation needs to be done of alleged instructions by Russian President Vladimir Putin — offering a bounty for dead American servicemen.

We must welcome and honor every hero coming home from armed forces.
