Character counts

Dear Editor:

In his letter published July 21 [“Listening to the crickets”], Bob Jancewicz writes: “Though most of us did not like Mr. Trump’s tactics of rants, language and belittling others in defending his administration, some were calling for his impeachment way before he actually took office.”

If by way before he means many were dismayed by Trump’s 2016 GOP nomination, and by language he means any number of Trump’s mean-spirited public attacks, I respectfully reply that, until Trump, I was confident the misconduct Mr. Jancewicz finds beside the point would disqualify a person from highest elective office. As a patriot and father of a young child, I still hope America finds our way back to the importance of character and basic goodness.
