Virginia O’Reilly, our “Queen of Corea,” passed away Feb. 8, 2020. Amanda Mary Virginia Smith was born on the Lee family farm in Madisonville, Tenn., Jan. 30, 1932. She was the daughter of the late Paul and Nell Beatrice (Lee) Smith. In addition to her parents, Virginia was predeceased by her husband, Charles, and her sister Barbara.
On Dec. 20, 1952, Virginia married Charles A. O’Reilly and moved to Maine. Charles and Virginia lived in their beloved Maine for the rest of their lives, raising their children, Weston and Jeanice, and establishing themselves as true Mainers. Our mom and dad loved each other, their family and the ocean. Corea was their perfect home, with their gardens in back and the ocean in front.
Virginia is survived by her two children, Weston (Linda) and Jeanice (Carlo); five grandchildren, Sean (Brooke), Patrick (Taylor), Aaron (Nikki), Devin (Ashley), Bryce (Lissy); four great-grandchildren, Grady, Jude, Nola and Colin, with another great-grandson arriving in June; Carol and David Hill, who provided a welcoming home away from home each winter as Mom traveled to and from Vermont.
Our family wishes to thank Loving Care — Kathy and Daisey, Angel, Emily, Nancy, Danielle and Marie — you brought tender care, love and comfort to our Mom and our family. Thank you to Katherine, Zoe, Amy W. and Amy F. of Northern Light Home Care and Hospice, who provided amazing support to our Mom and to our family. We also wish to thank New Life Christian Church in Milton, Vt., which welcomed and loved our mom.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Northern Light Home Care and Hospice, 885 Union St., Suite 202, Bangor, ME 04401; or Corea Baptist Church, 628 Corea Road, Corea, ME 04624.
