ELLSWORTH and FRANKLIN — Vesta H. (Clough) Goodwin, 98, died April 29, 2014, in Ellsworth. She was born Feb. 25, 1916, in Southwest Harbor, the daughter of Edwin George and Ella Francis (Reed) Lord.
Vesta worked at the Edison Packing Co. in Southwest Harbor and she also worked as an animal caretaker at The Jackson Lab. She loved knitting, crocheting, embroidering and craft work. She was a member of the Schoodic Grange No. 420 Franklin, the Green Mountain Pomona No. 26, 50-year and lifetime member of Rowena No. 91 Rebecca Lodge of Southwest Harbor and past noble grand and past deputy. She was a member of the Franklin Historical Society, Women’s Club and Franklin Club. At Pine Brook, she was manager of the dining room and Meals for Me.
Vesta is survived by one son, Malcolm W. Clough of Southwest Harbor; and one daughter, Edith Francis Richards, of Corinth; one stepson, Gerard Goodwin, of Franklin; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; and a niece. She was predeceased by her husband, Vernon G. Goodwin; and two sons, Hoyt K. Lord and Edwin R. Clough; and a brother, Kenneth T. Lord.
Memorial services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, May 3, 2014, at the Franklin Baptist Church, Main Street, Franklin. Interment will be at Mt. Height Cemetery, Southwest Harbor.
