PORT CHARLOTTE, FLA.
Vernon A. “Bud” Staples, 82, of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away March 18, 2009. He was born Oct. 10, 1926, in Ellsworth and moved to the Port Charlotte area 10 years ago from Ellsworth.
Mr. Staples retired from Ray’s Plumbing Co. and was a golf grounds keeper at White Birches Golf Club. In his younger years he was an avid photographer and loved to read. Anything he pursued he did it with great enthusiasm. He served in the Army during World War II and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his nieces, Gwen Varisco of Port Charlotte, Fla., Sandra Holt of Clearwater, Fla., Brenda Strout of Clearwater, Fla.; nephews, John Moore of Albany, N.Y., Parker Moore of Oxford, Mich., James Moore of Rochester, N.Y; dear friend, Pastor Doug Merrill and his wife, Kelly, and their children; and many great-nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Ellsworth. Memorial donations may be made to an Animal Welfare League of your choice
