Roy Edward Burton, 63, of Eastbrook died unexpectedly on Dec. 3, 2019, at his home. Roy was born on Feb. 4, 1956, in Bangor to Francis Earl Burton and Gloria Whitmore. He graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1975, and from Eastern Maine Technical College in 2001, and earned an AOS of Excellence in Technology of Refrigeration and HVAC.
Roy was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in all capacities. He loved all his family and provided for their needs. Roy loved the outdoors and helped paddle on many canoe trips. He also loved to eat steamers.
Being mechanically inclined, Roy could fix almost anything. He was known throughout Downeast Maine for helping anyone in need (many of them late in the day or in the middle of the night when their furnaces quit). There are so many people he knew in the area they are too numerous to list. Thank you to everyone for so graciously helping the family in our time of need.
Roy is survived by his loving wife, Mary L. Edgerly of Eastbrook; his five children, Eric of Eastbrook, Chris of Ellsworth, Aaron of Eastbrook, Ariel of Ellsworth and Jamie of Ellsworth; five grandchildren, Abby, Amanda, Harmon, Makia and Sam; his brother Clifford and his sister Debbie; and all his aunts, uncles, cousins and their families and all of his friends.
There was a service for Roy on Saturday, Dec. 7, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. An interment will be held at a later date.
In lieu flowers, please consider a donation to the Eastbrook Fire Department.
Condolences may be sent to Mary Burton, 41 Abbott Lane, Eastbrook, ME 04634.
