CHARLOTTE, N.C. and ELLSWORTH — Roger Stanley Day, 66, of Charlotte, N.C., passed away Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013, at the W.G. Hefner VA Hospice House in Salisbury, N.C. He was born June 15, 1947, in Eastbrook, the son of Catherine Ashe Day Bragdon and the late Raymond Day.
Roger was a graduate of Ellsworth High School and Northern Maine Vocational Technical Institute in Presque Isle. He worked as a building contractor and was owner/ operator of Austin Furniture in Ellsworth. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and an avid golfer who could always be found hunting for balls at Bar Harbor Golf Course. Roger was a member of United Baptist Church.
Those left to cherish his memories are wife, Debra Jordan Day of Charlotte; son, Ryan and his wife, Jennifer and twin granddaughters, Eryn Elizabeth and Jordan Cate Day, who were the pride and joy of his life, all of Charlotte; mother, Catherine Day Bragdon of Ellsworth; sisters, Linda Buzzell and husband, Wayne, of Ellsworth and Juanita Workman and husband, Larry, of Searsport; brother-in-law, Kenneth Jordan and wife, Brenda, of Glen Ellyn, Ill.; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by in-laws, Kenneth and Phyllis Jordan; and stepfather, Ken Bragdon.
The family will hold a celebration of life 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16, 2013, at the Bar Harbor Golf Course, Trenton.
