NAPLES, FLA. and NORTHEAST HARBOR — Robert “Rob” Abbe Gardner III, 62, of Naples, Fla., and Northeast Harbor passed away Oct. 12, 2013, in Allentown, Pa. Born May 6, 1951, in Lake Forest, Ill., Rob graduated from Lake Forest Country Day School, Andover Philips Academy, and received a BA in History at Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pa.
Rob lived his life reflecting his fervent love of the game of golf. He was the head professional, director of golf at the Northeast Harbor Golf Club for 38 years and a member of the PGA. A passionate golf teacher and coach, he thrived on improving his students’ skills and enjoyment of the game.
His father, Robert Abbe Gardner Jr., precedes Rob in death. He is survived by his mother, Barbara Priebe Seaman (Irving); three siblings, Katharine Gardner Roach (Stephen), Frederick Priebe Gardner (Joan), and Deborah Gardner Jacobson (Kurt); and 10 nieces and nephews. Throughout his life, Rob maintained many deep friendships. He leaves behind many wonderful friends.
