Richard E. Richardson

ELLSWORTH  and LARGO, FLA. — Richard E. Richardson, 89, died peacefully March 9, 2014. He was born Jan. 12, 1925, in Spruce Head, the son of Arthur and Dorothy (Hamm) Richardson.

He served 20 years in the Army and served in Europe during World War II. He lived in Lamoine and Hancock and spent the last 10 years of retirement in Florida. He worked as a meat cutter in several area markets. He was member of the VFW, American Legion, Eastern Star, Lygonia Lodge and Anah Shrine.

He is survived by wife, Jean Black Richardson and three children, Debora and husband, Bruce MacGown, Carole and husband, David Schoppe and Dale Martin; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Estelle Clements; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by daughter, Lisa Martin; four brothers, Earnest, John, Ralph and Ronald; and one sister, Beulah.

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Oct. 11, 2014, at the VFW Hall, 419 Main St., Ellsworth. The Rev. Virginia Snapp-Cunningham will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Richard may be made to VFW Post 109, P.O. Box 281, Ellsworth, ME 04605.
