Raymond C. Powles Jr.

flagNASHUA, N.H. – Raymond C. Powles Jr., a longtime resident of Nashua, N.H., died peacefully on July 21, 2016, following a lengthy illness. He was the beloved husband of Nancy (McDevitt) Powles, with whom he spent 50 wonderful years of marriage.

Ray was born on Oct. 10, 1929, in Newburgh, N.Y., the son of the late Raymond C. Powles Sr. and Caroline (Montfort) Powles. After graduating from high school, he joined the United States Navy and served as a communications specialist. Following his retirement from the Navy, he worked for Sanders Associates as an engineer writer. He remained with them for 23 years and retired as they were known as BAE Systems. He was a member of the Masons of Cherryfield, and the Eastern Star Organization. He was also a member of the Pepperell VFW Post No. 3291. Ray was a very devoted family man and often enjoyed spending time at the family homestead in Franklin.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Raymond C. Powles III of Goffstown, N.H., a daughter, Stephanie (Powles) Murphy and her husband, William (Bill) Murphy, of Pepperell, Mass., three grandchildren, Caitlin Powles, Nicole Murphy and William (Billy) Murphy Jr.
