Raymon Ora Jordan

Raymon Ora Jordan, 76, died April 5, 2009, after a short illness. He was born June 28, 1932, in his parents’ home on Hancock Point, the son of Ora and Amy (Stratton) Jordan.

He lived and worked in the Hancock area all of his 76 years. He joined the Hancock Volunteer Fire Department in 1979 and recently received their lifetime Service Award. Raymon was a familiar face around Hancock and Sullivan, always friendly and willing to lend a helping hand. From shoveling the steps at the Hancock Congregational Church, to caring for a “cottage” on Hancock Point, to maintenance of Dunbar Cabins in Sullivan he will be remembered as a faithful, steadfast, exemplary worker. His smiling face and ready hand will be sorely missed.

Raymon is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Cullie Josey; Judy’s mother, Emily Jordan; his sister, Anita and her husband, Richard Redman and their children, David, Diana, Stephen and their families.

A funeral service was celebrated April 8, 2009, at the Union Congregation Church of Hancock, with the Rev. John Holt officiating. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery, Hancock. Gifts in his memory may be sent to the Hancock Volunteer Fire Department. A service of Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, 215 Main St., Ellsworth
