Peter S. Kovacs

ELLSWORTH — Peter S. Kovacs, 53, of Ellsworth passed away peacefully Sept. 19, 2011, at Central Maine Medical Center, Lewiston from a lifelong illness of multiple sclerosis. He was surrounded by his family, who cared for him deeply.

Peter was born in Stamford, Conn., and was raised in Greenwich, Conn. In his late teens he moved to Maine, with his parents and two siblings. He helped his father, Frank Kovacs Sr., build their home on Pioneer Farm, Ellsworth. Peter worked for S.R. Tracey as a painter, where he poured his passion of his art into many beautiful estates throughout Mount Desert Island. It was through a co-worker, Roland Stanley, that he met Randee Stanley of Southwest Harbor in 1984. They were married April 11, 1987. On July 15, 1991, Peter and Randee were blessed with a son, Justin S. Kovacs. Justin was his greatest gift and he loved him deeply. Peter was one of a kind who will never be forgotten. His trademark blue eyes could melt anyone’s heart.

Peter is survived by his wife, Randee Stanley Kovacs; his son, Justin S. Kovacs; mother, Maria Kovacs; siblings, Maria Dupuy, Attila Kovacs, Aniko Kovacs-Giampetruzzi, and many nieces and nephews, from both sides of the family. We would like to thank his sister, Aniko and her friend, Patrick, of Kansas for traveling many miles to sit by his side. Special thanks to Wade Tilghman for all his help during Peter’s time of need. Peter was predeceased by his father, Frank Kovacs Sr., and his brother, Frank Kovacs Jr. He was a kind loving man who loved to spend his time sitting with his family and friends.

A service will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011, at Union Congregational Church, Ellsworth Falls. We ask that in lieu of flowers, you do a random act of kindness in his memory. Peter would like donations in his memory be sent to Dr. Mark Kandutsch, P.O. Box 8, Bar Harbor, ME 04609 or Dr. William Caddoo, DMD, 175 Water St., Ellsworth, ME 04605.

Know when to pay your respects.
