Mona L. Kennedy (formerly known as Mona L. Gray), 67, died in her home on Nov. 13, 2021. She was born Aug. 3, 1954, in East Orange, N.J., the daughter of Clair A. Kennedy and Beulah F. (Black) Kennedy.
Mona graduated from George Stevens Academy, Class of 1972. She provided home health care for various peninsula residents and obtained her CNA certificate through the Island Nursing Home and provided loving care to patients there. In retirement, she remained active cleaning churches and businesses in the Blue Hill area as an independent contractor and volunteered at the Tree of Life.
Mona was a devout member of the South Blue Hill Baptist Church. Religion was a very important part of her life. Her other interests included old cars and caring for basset hounds.
Mona is survived by three siblings, Brenda Means and her husband, Merrill, Cora Bana and her husband, Dhirendra, and Dennis Kennedy and his wife, Elizabeth.
A service of remembrance will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2021, at South Blue Hill Baptist Church, P.O. Box 613, 495 Falls Bridge Road, South Blue Hill.
