BAR HARBOR — Millicent Marie McPheters, 79, passed away Feb. 8, 2010 at a Bangor hospital after a short illness. She was born March 21, 1930 in Pleasant Ridge, New Brunswick, the daughter of Charles and Pearl (Boles) Stewart.
Marie was an avid golfer. She and her husband Fred operated two golf courses, Northport Golf Club in Northport and Kebo Valley Golf Club in Bar Harbor. She was well known in the Women’s Maine State Golf Association and Kebo’s Ladies Golf Club.
Marie is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, Fred McPheters; one sister, Bernice Giddens of New Brunswick; and one brother, Bill and his wife Rose of New Brunswick; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by six siblings – Claire Stewart, Donald Stewart, Audrey Knewell, Albert Stewart, Clark Stewart and Rita Embleton.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 11, 2010 at the Bar Harbor Congregational Church in Bar Harbor with the Rev. Dr.
