EASTBROOK and ELLSWORTH — Marsha “Mammie” Eva Littlefield, 83, passed away Dec. 21, 2011, after a long illness. She was born July 30, 1928, in Clifton, daughter of Almariner Bragg and Viola (Carver) Bragg.
Marsha’s joy in life was the love of her daughters, family and friends. She was a very loving and compassionate person and her home in Eastbrook was always open to those in need or to those who had lost their way. When times were tough she would remind us of all that we had and she had a special way of making everyone feel loved and appreciated. Marsha worked for 18 years as head housekeeper at Collier’s Nursing Home. She was a baker at Pop’s Chowder House and was well-known for her delicious pies, cookies and donuts. In her last years she worked as a loving CNA/caregiver. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, feeding the birds, and her ‘endless’ cup of tea!
She is survived by her four daughters, Brenda Gott and partner, John Lockhart, of Dover-Foxcroft, Penny Lagrange and husband, Donald, of Hancock, Bethony Beal of Hancock; and her stepdaughter, Gloria Buzzell and husband, Reginald, of Ellsworth; one brother, Raymond Bragg and wife, Jean, of Eddington; a very special sister-in-law, Mary Bragg of Clifton; 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Special friends who were her family, Anita DeMeyer and husband, Forrest, of Eastbrook, Debra Astbury of Java, Va., David Gott of Sabattus, Wayne Beal of Ellsworth, and the family of the late Dora Jordan, who were always there for her. She was predeceased by two husbands, Raymond A. Littlefield in 1990 and Ralph W. Dunham in 1972; one stepson, Ralph Dunham Jr. in 1953; two sisters and 10 brothers. The family wishes to thank Courtland Rehab & Living Center of Ellsworth for their outstanding care and compassion in her final years.
