FRANKLIN — Margaret (Seavey) Andrews Butler, 96, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 2, 2011. She was born Sept. 25, 1914, in Whiting, the daughter of Harry and Eunice (Dowling) Seavey.
Margaret graduated from Machias High School. She was a member of the Schoodic Grange in Franklin, where she was very active for many years. She was also a member of the Historical Society and Franklin Garden Club. For many years she was a member of the Franklin Methodist Church and in her later years attended the Franklin Baptist Church with her husband, Ernest. After Ernest passed, she lived for a while with her stepson and daughter-in-law Ernie and Marge Butler, where she attended Hancock Baptist Church. Margaret loved birds and flowers and was an avid artist. Many of her paintings hang in family homes. Margaret will be remembered for her love of people, her warm smile and her faith in God.
Margaret is survived by her daughters, Judy Blyther of Machiasport, Lelia Dalangauskas of Bristol, Conn.; daughter-in-law, Eleanor Andrews, of Franklin; stepchildren, Ernest L. Butler Jr. of Hancock, Karen Call of Eastbrook and Susan Roderick of Norridgewock; brothers, Robert, Hollis, Maurice and Earl Seavey; sisters, Dorothy Reynolds, Edna Pinkham and Delia Reynolds; grandchildren, Debbie, Esperanza, Matt, Elizabeth and Emily; five great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Margaret was predeceased by her husband, Gilbert D. Andrews Sr.; husband, Ernest L. Butler Sr.; son, Gilbert D. Andrews Jr.; seven brothers and five sisters.
