Manuel L. Young Jr. (Lucky) died at home surrounded by family on Oct. 16, 2020, following a brief battle with lung cancer. He was born on Oct. 22, 1946, the son of Manuel L. Young Sr. and Mildred (Nice) Young.
Lucky graduated from Pemetic High School in 1966 and married the love of his life, Jacqueline J. Bennett, on Sept. 10 of the same year. About a month later, he was drafted into the United States Army. He spent 15 months in Korea and upon returning home, he started his career in lobster fishing. He also found himself driving seafood trucks to various locations, clamming, shrimping, scalloping and boat building.
In 1992, he enrolled at Husson College and graduated five years later with a BA in accounting. He enjoyed many years of making wonderful memories at the family camp in Rockwood. One of his greatest accomplishments was building his own lobster boat (Kss Ass) with his sons.
Lucky was predeceased by his parents and siblings, John, Natalie and Sherri (Danny Robbins).
He is survived by his loving wife, Jacqueline; son Jason and Colleen, and son Chris and Lisa; little sister Angie and Kenny Lemoine Jr. He is also survived by Warren Smith(Leanne), Chris Tracey and Lisa Hammond (Arthur), whom he considered his children; his six granddaughters: Alisha, Shelby, Serena, Katie, Samantha and Sophia; his sister-in-law, Karen Young, and brother-in-law, Warren Denbow, along with several nieces and nephews.
