Lloyd Spencer Curtis Sr., age 81, of Ellsworth passed peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, Aug. 24, 2020. Born Oct. 10, 1938, in Fredericksburg, Va., Lloyd Sr. was the son of the late Lucille Smith Curtis and Benjamin Lloyd Curtis.
Lloyd Sr. is survived by his four children, Lloyd Jr. (Lisa), Brian (Denise), Virginia (Edward Jordan) and Glenn (Dawn); 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Bradbury; brother, Hughie Curtis; brother, Kenneth Curtis (Diana); sister-in-law, Andrea (Andy) McGann; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Karen and Bill Graves; brother-in-law, Frank Smith; sister-in-law, Kathleen Smith; and many other family and friends.
Lloyd Sr. was also a long-term resident of southern New Jersey before “retiring” to Maine in 1999. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army National Guard in 1962 after eight years of service to our country. He was a veteran of the Korean War. Lloyd Sr. was a lifetime member of the Clayton Elks Lodge No. 2132, Clayton, N.J., serving as treasurer for many years. He was a faithful member of the Ellsworth United Methodist Church, Ellsworth.
His life revolved around his beloved wife of 56 years, Emma, until her passing in July 2018. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who loved to spend time with family at the Cottage (Cabin No. 3) on Green Lake, Ellsworth. He worked up until the time of his passing enjoying his occupation installing custom draperies and blinds in homes and vacation properties throughout Downeast Maine.
Lloyd Sr. will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Memorial services will be private. Condolences can be sent to 20 Upper Boggy Brook Road, Ellsworth, ME 04605.
