WINTER HARBOR — Kay (Smallidge) Pierce, 91, went to be with The Lord, whom she loved, in her home on May 3, 2013, after a most courageous battle with cancer. She was born Dec. 23, 1921.
Kay was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Winter Harbor and loved to talk to people about The Lord. She was also a lifetime member of the Winter Harbor Historical Society, the Winter Harbor Cemetery Association, and also a member of the Winter Harbor Chamber of Commerce for 17 years. Kay will be most remembered for her kind soul, willingness to help others, and her positive outlook on life.
Kay was predeceased by her loving husband of 42 years, William “Bill”; her beloved son, Billy Jr.; her “adopted” son, Ray Atwell; and her brother, Victor Smallidge. She is survived by her “angel girl,” Karen Hodgkins of Winter Harbor; her loving son, Larry, and wife, Mary, of Carmel; a sister, Norma Ford of Weatherford, Texas; her special “adopted” children, Donna Atwell of Winter Harbor, Peter and Stephanie McKenzie of Birch Harbor, and MaryJeanne Pierce of Middletown, Conn.; grandchildren, Carol Roy and husband, Pat, of Hampden, and their daughter, Victoria; Cathy Odenborg and husband, Erik, of Snohomish, Wash., and their children, Christian and Taylor; her pride and joy, Erica Hodgkins and companion, Matt Bernier, of Sullivan, and their unborn baby girl; and Michael Pierce of Steuben; and best friends, Weltha Sargent of Winter Harbor and Lois MacGregor of Orrington.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2013, at the First Baptist Church of Winter Harbor. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church in Kay’s memory.
