Katherine Ellen (Snow) Peasley

Brooksville

Katherine Ellen (Snow) Peasley, 77, of Brooksville, died in her home on Sept. 11, 2022, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

She was born on May 18, 1945, to Fred and Millie Snow. Kitty grew up in Blue Hill, the oldest of eight children. She married and divorced Lewis E. Leighton, and had two children, Lucy E. Leighton, Portland, and Shane E. Leighton, Westbrook. Kitty and Lewis remained friends until his death.

Kitty married her love, Gregory Peasley, on Sept. 11, 1987. Kitty and Greg were married for 35 years, raising Greg’s two daughters, Wendy Libby and Lori Peasley. Kitty was also a well-loved Nana to many grandchildren.

She was well known in the Blue Hill area and worked in many different businesses including The Weekly Packet, Blue Hill Plumbing & Heating and Blue Hill Memorial Hospital. Later in life she decided to go back to school to pursue her passion for dental hygiene and retired as a dental hygienist.

For over 20 years Kitty took an annual trip to Canada with the women in her family. She always remarked how lucky she was to have such an opportunity to connect with her family and experience this annual trip filled with love, laughter and food, lots of food!

Kitty’s love of nature was pure and immense. She enjoyed the time she spent on Billings Pond joining in on the annual loon count, going for kayak rides and walks in the woods. She also loved her home with Greg on the Bagaduce River living off sea and land. After retirement, she and Greg spent winters in Florida, where she made many more friends.

We all know that we are better people having known her. Kitty’s wit and humor will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
