Joseph P. Cornetta Sr.


Joseph P. Cornetta Sr., 86, of Ellsworth died Friday, July 3, 2009, at an Ellsworth heath-care facility. He was born May 26, 1923, in Franklin, Mass., the son of the late Louis and Lucia (Lamagna) Cornetta.

He worked for 44 years as a mill worker for the Kendall Co., in textile mills, in Walpole, Mass. Mr. Cornetta was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan and enjoyed shuffleboard. Joseph especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He shared 53 years of marriage with Ellen (Gilpatrick) Cornetta.

In addition to his wife, family members include his three children, Patrice Crossman and husband, Evans, of Waltham, Joseph Jr. of Oakland, Calif., and Phillip and his wife, Laurie, of West Brookfield, Mass.; four grandchildren, Jason Crossman, Jessica Brown and husband, Jason, Jeremy Crossman and Nicholas Cornetta; a stepgranddaughter, Sara Wood; seven great-grandchildren, Haylie, Jason Jr., Chase, Zachary, Kayla, Andrew and Anna. He is also survived by three brothers; two sisters; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be sadly missed by special friends, Frank, Christine, Bob and Abby.

A celebration of life will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday, July 11, 2009, at Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, 215 Main St., Ellsworth. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the hour of the service. Private burial will be held in the Hillside Cemetery, Waltham.
