Janet L. Cox



HANCOCK—Janet L. Cox, 53, passed away March 16, 2010. She was born July 17, 1956, in Salt Lake City.

 

She was the beloved daughter of Carole Christmas Cox of Hancock; sister of Paul N. Cox (Christine) of Eastport; sister of Cathryn Astin (Marc) of Twin Falls, Idaho; beloved aunt of Christopher (Nickie) and Nathan (Marisa) Astin and Danielle (Havel) Allred, Jennifer Cox and J.C. (Tracey) Neel; great aunt to Ethan, London, Aubrey and Annabelle Astin. She is also survived by a favorite aunt and uncle, Bill and Beverly Cardy of Costa Mesa, Calif. She was preceded in death by her father, Herman W. Cox.

Janet graduated from the University of Utah, magna cum laude with a BA in psychology and English history. She enjoyed traveling to England and Ireland. A great lover of animals, she enjoyed her many pets and riding her horse. She was an accomplished equestrian. An avid gardener, she also enjoyed reading and photography. Janet worked at the Mount Desert Island Hospital, Bar Harbor, in the human resources department.

A memorial service was held March 18, 2010, at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, Ellsworth. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may donate in her memory to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, 5001 Angel Canyon Road, Kanab, UT 84741 or the Mary Dow Cancer Center, 50 Union St., Ellsworth, ME 04605.
