James Lee Fleming



SULLIVAN — Jim Fleming, 63, of Sullivan passed away Sept. 17, 2013.

Jim is survived by his wife, Wanda, who always referred to him as “my cute little man.” He was also extremely loving and proud of his three children, Tammy and husband, Donald; Donna and husband, Robert; and Chris and wife, Erin; three stepchildren, Reggie and wife, Nicole, Matthew and wife, Michaela; and Philip and fiancée, Suzanne; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sisters and brothers, Sue Ellen, Verna, Ronald and Jeffery; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tennie and Ruth Fleming of Clintwood, Va.; and a sister, Ruenell.

Jim was born and raised in Clintwood, Va., graduated from Clintwood High School and joined the Navy in 1968, serving in Vietnam. When he returned from the war he started his family and worked in the coal mines for several years. He and his family moved to Maine in 1982 and he enjoyed working until be retired in 2012. Jim was a passionate man who enjoyed gardening, reading, fishing, building things and playing chess and poker. He was always there to help a friend or just to have a listening ear, after which your troubles would be reassured and you would be encouraged.

A celebration of life memorial for family and friends will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at his home, 1773 U.S. Highway 1, Sullivan.
