WEST TREMONT — James “Jay” E. Nelson, 47, died unexpectedly June 24, 2012, at his home in West Tremont. He was born Dec. 10, 1964, in Melrose, Mass., the son of Leslie F. Nelson (deceased) and Thelma A. Nelson.
Jay graduated from Littleton High School in Littleton, Mass. Following graduation he moved to Cape Cod and worked for City Hall Electric, specializing in lighting design. He formed a landscaping business while residing in Cape Cod. After moving to Maine, he developed a passion for boat building and worked for Hinckley Yachts, Morris Yachts and Ellis Boat Yard. He worked on many home construction projects with his brothers and brother-in-law. He loved cooking and spending time with his family. He developed a keen interest in boat building and enjoyed crafting wooden projects. He loved to garden and landscape. Jay’s very loving and caring nature included the rescuing of various animals, plants and stranded motorists. But, most especially he spent much of his time giving attentive care to his mother, Thelma.
James is survived by his beloved mother, Thelma Nelson; brother William; brother, David and LeighAnn Sheely; sister, Andrea and brother-in-law, Lee Closson, all of Bernard; nephew, Michael; nieces, Katrina, Sandra, Gretchen, Alyssa, Christina and Julia.
