Harold Thomas Hammond, 68, passed away at his home, Dec. 29, 2019.
Harold was born to Mark and Clara (Dudley) Hammond, Sept. 10, 1951, one of three children. He grew up in Gouldsboro, completing high school at Sumner Memorial High School.
In addition to being a master Mason, which was of great importance to Harold, he belonged to the Anah Shrine Temple, served as selectman for the town of Gouldsboro, and was a firefighter and code enforcement officer.
Harold will be remembered for his love of camp and the outdoors, having built his own camp, where he loved to spend time. He enjoyed sharing meals and jokes with those he loved. Harold also found great enjoyment in work, building boats for most of his life. Even in his illness, Harold continued to work for H&H Marine, welcoming them into his home, where he could more easily offer his advice and opinions on boatbuilding. Along the way, he learned a great many skills, from electrical to plumbing, all of which he put to good use.
Surviving Harold are his wife of 39 years, Eleanor; sons, Alvin Worcester and Allen Hammond; daughters, Tina and Kimberly Hammond; brother, Frank Hammond; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Harold was predeceased by both his parents; his sister, Joyce, when she was just 1 year old; and a grandson, Kyle.
Family and friends are invited to visit and share memories, 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, Jan. 10, 2020, at Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, Milbridge, where a funeral service with Masonic Rite will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 11, 2020. Committal will follow at South Gouldsboro Cemetery.
