ERVING, MASS.—Gordon J. Ward, 47, died July 17, 2010, in Massachusetts. He was born Jan. 14, 1963, in Bar Harbor, the son of Franklin Henry and Driscilla L. (Gott) Ward.
He was a graduate of Mount Desert Island High School in 1981 and the University of New Hampshire and he attended Brandeis University and received his master’s degree from Boston University. Gordon worked as a PCA and at various libraries in New England. Gordon’s greatest joy was composing and teaching private music lessons.
He is survived by his mother, Driscilla Ward of Southwest Harbor; his devoted friend, Katharin Taylor; two brothers, William Ward of Dexter and Martin Ward and wife, Donna, of Rockport. He is also survived by his aunt, Ingrid Wormell; his uncle, Les Ward; and several nieces and nephews. Gordon was predeceased by his father, Henry Ward; and his brother, Rodney Ward.
A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, July 30, 2010, at Mt. Height Cemetery, Southwest Harbor, with the Rev. Wayne Buchanan officiating.
