Glenna M. Sloat Dunham

Glenna M. Sloat Dunham, 95, died June 11, 2020, at Seaport Village Healthcare in Ellsworth.

She was born Oct. 17, 1924, in Presque Isle, the daughter of Norman Benjamin and Clara (Armstrong) Sloat.

When she was very young, her mother died, so her father, her many siblings and her worked very hard to keep the family together. That sense of love and devotion to family always remained strong with her, and it showed. Family was always the most important part of her life. She was a fantastic mom and a great cook. She was always ready to help someone in need. Besides being a full-time mom, she worked throughout her life; she picked potatoes in The County, was a waitress, a store clerk at Epstein’s, a short order cook, a bank teller in Stonington and a CNA at Blue Hill Memorial Hospital and Island Nursing Home.

She enjoyed square dancing, cooking, gardening, sewing, knitting, crafts and painting.

She was a member of Rockbound Rebekah Lodge (held many offices), a Cub Scout den mother, a member of Oceanville Baptist Church, and lately a member of Church of Jesus Christ Restoration Branch.

She is survived by her children, George (Noreen), Richard (Sally), Valorie Jandreau (Peter), Kevin (Susan), Robin, Nathan (Judy); her sister, Doris McCorison; her half-sister, Charlotte Holmes; sister-in-law, Clarice Sloat Call; grandchildren, Gale, Barry, Wade, Jacqueline, Joseph, Emilia, Marie, Samantha, Sarah, Daryl, Ann and Nicholas; great-grandchildren, Emma, Alex, Harper, Reese, Jackson, Haley, Louisa, Evangeline, Adeline, Porter, Theodore, Rowan and Harrison; and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her husband, George “Med” Dunham; granddaughter, Erin Dunham; parents; and siblings, Garnet, Harley, Pearl, Marion, Hazel, Alice, Lillian, Avis and Evelyn.

A special thank you to the staff at Seaport Village Healthcare, Beacon Hospice, St. Joseph’s Wound Clinic, and especially to family and friends for their love, prayers, visits, phone calls and many cards.

A memorial service will be held at a later date yet to be determined.

Arrangements by Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth.
