Gail grew up in Brewer and attended Brewer Schools. She was a member of the National Honor Society and was the salutatorian of the Class of 1944. She also attended UMO.
Gail married Carl C. Lawson Jr. and had four children. Later in life, she and Dick Anderson were married, and together they ran Dick’s Diner in downtown Ellsworth for many years. They enjoyed their many hours working with the Anah Temple Shriners. She was a devout Catholic, and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she was on the Woman’s Council. She also volunteered at Collier’s and Courtland nursing homes, Meals on Wheels, and Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry. Gail enjoyed traveling, cooking, shopping, fishing, painting, sewing, crossword puzzles and spending time with her beloved family.
Gail is survived by her children, Carlene L. Graham; Thomas Lawson and his wife, Brenda; Candy Herrick; Penny Hackett and her husband, Joe; grandchildren, Jamie Graham, Shane Carter, Brooke Collier, Matt Lawson, Katy Lawson, Courtney Wadey, Stephen Lawson, Trevor Herrick, and their spouses; 11 great-grandchildren, Emily, David, Carly, Lily, Pippa, Avery, Freya, Thomas, Isla, Hannah, and Brianne; and a sister-in-law Virginia Libhart. Gail will truly be missed by her loving dog and companion, Benji. She was preceded in death by her husbands Carl Lawson Jr. and Richard “Dick” Anderson, grandson Joel Lawson Graham, son-in-law James Graham, and brother Wayne P. Libhart.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, Nov. 23, 2015, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 231 Main St., Ellsworth, ME 04605, with Father John Skehan officiating. Interment will be at Woodbine Cemetery in Ellsworth.
