Fred Linwood Saunders



SEDGWICK — Fred Linwood Saunders passed away peacefully March 31, 2013, at Blue Hill Memorial Hospital, with his family and friends at his side. He was born Feb. 13, 1932, son of Fred and Olive (Nevells) Saunders.

Fred was a jack of all trades; in his young years he worked for Wayne Allen in the woods. He worked as a mechanic in Millinocket, Morrison Chevrolet and other garages in the area. He also worked at Black Hawk Mines, Cape Rosier and then at Blue Hill Kerr American Mines. Prior to his retirement he was employed at Allen’s Blueberry Freezer in Orland.

Fred was predeceased by his wife, Betty Closson Saunders. He is survived by his daughters, Patricia Stover of Hollis and her former husband, Fred Stover, of Westbrook; Roxanne Grindle and husband, James, of Blue Hill; Geraldine Nevells and companion, Lonnie Perkins, of Blue Hill; and Georgine Saunders of Ellsworth; two sisters, Mary Owen and Virginia Simmons; a special nephew, Barry Closson and family, all of Sedgwick. He has seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews; special friends, Alberta Williams. Bruce and Lynnette Grindle, Pete and Wahneeta Carter, Roger Hutchinson, Wayne and Helaine Allen, Wayne Fritz Carter and many, many more friends.

A graveside memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 4, 2013, at Pine Grove Cemetery, North Sedgwick, with the Rev. Doug Drown officiating. Refreshments following services at Fred Saunders residence. Arrangements by Acadia Burial and Direct Cremation.
